Projection installations

Lately I have been working on a series of spacial projections combined with sculpture to extend and distort the space the work is in. One of my greatest influences is the German Expressionist film 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligary' for it's use of lighting and distorted set design which comments on how the distortions of the mind can be manifested throughout the built interior.

Current Artist Statement

My work explores the psychological impact of the interior. The notion of interior is a reference to the psychological versus the physical; the space of the mind and its relationship to the space of the interior. Other than providing shelter the interior can create a physical construct that mirrors our need to psychologically and physically define immediate space in relation to our body. Distorting these spaces can emphasize the distortions of the mind. I am drawn to liminal and threshold spaces such as doorways
